Six years thanks to you all! We opened our doors in SLU in January 2019 and were immediately greeted by enthusiastic customers who had been cheering for us as construction finally wrapped up. Our first year was “drinking from the firehouse” as they say, overwhelmed and learning as we went. Just as we were getting our feet under us and celebrating our first year in business, it all changed in an instant with Covid and stay at home orders. We pivoted to a delivery and pick-up only spot, then pivoted again when it was safe to reopen to customers. We’ve kept going and kept learning as customers welcomed us to cater their wedding, host their family visiting town, or serve them their 3rd chai that day (we don’t judge 😉). We’ve witnessed the life milestones of many “OGs” who got married and had babies and moved and changed jobs and still come in to say hi. We’ve fed the homeless through our “pav is love” program, supported by customer donations and a spirit of community. We’ve watched baristas grow into exceptional managers or chefs. We’ve launched team members off to graduate school, culinary careers and even to start their own businesses. Within the celebration, there’s an essential truth: Food service is hard work. Each day demands physical exertion, creative problem solving and a relentless focus on standards and details. Owning a restaurant is financially precarious, particularly in this fine city. It hasn’t been easy, it doesn’t promise to get easier, but it’s been exceptionally joyful. There’s nothing else we’d rather be doing than feeding you! Thank you for joining us on this crazy ride!!
