Over the last several weeks, Minnesota has showed us what it looks like to defend democracy and civil liberties. When news makes me physically ill, I turn to stores of the Minneapolis communities united, showing up for their neighbors, in the streets in the bitter cold. Simultaneously peaceful and vocal and courageous. As a native Minnesotan, I never doubted the strength of their resistance!

Minneapolis restaurants will strike on Friday, January 30th in protest of ICE’s violent, repressive, deadly presence in their city. Some restaurants will close here and nationwide. Shutting down for a day is not an option for us at this time, but we join these restaurants in solidarity in an event organized by @spicewaala . It’s extra fitting to be part of this on our 7 year anniversary! We will offer Bombay Masala Sandwiches as a special and use half the sales to purchase gift cards at Minneapolis restaurants, providing a revenue source while they close.

Popular in the western states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, Sabudana Khichdi is cooked tapioca pearls mixed with ground peanuts, spices and ginger. It’s a deliciously chewy, savory cereal that is slightly addictive! And also vegan and gluten free.
